With the launch of the Chamber Curry Club now in its second month we talked to ‘G’ a familiar face at the Raj Bari about their winning ingredient!

1. Tell us about your typical Monday morning?

Typical Monday morning would be waking up and having breakfast with the kids and discussing their week ahead.  After seeing them off to school start preparing to leave for the Restaurant.  Around 10-10.30 I would phone the Manager and pick up any goods needed for the restaurant from our supplier’s branch.

2. Can you explain about the Raj Bari and what you offer?

Raj Bari is a family owned business and also run by family.  It has been in our family for 20 years.  In 2014 we won the Sevenoaks Business Awards for the ‘Retailer of the Year’.  We offer a unique dining experience which offers our guests an attentive (but not intrusive) service with waiters that have exclusive knowledge of our menu so that our guests leave satisfied.

3. Tell us something interesting about the Raj Bari.

It has been about two years since I have taken charge of Raj Bari and the first thing I changed was the interior which was a little weary to say the least, then the menu.  I am an avid sports fan and firmly believe in supporting the local sports organisations.  Raj Bari is the ‘proud’ sponsors of Sevenoaks Rugby Club, Sevenoaks football club, Holmesdale Cricket Club and I am currently talking with the Sevenoaks Hockey Club.

4. What’s hot news in the restaurant industry?

It has always been a competitive business running an establishment which provides fine dining with a service second to none.  Chefs and restauranteurs are always trying to bring new dishes to their menu for demanding consumer trends when it comes to menu planning, but add their own twist of culinary creativity to drive those trends in new directions.

5. Where are you finding new customers in the Sevenoaks area?

There are several ways we are finding new customers.  I get recommendations from our loyal guests.  Social media is a great way to get new customers.  We have a Facebook and twitter page. Our guests are recommending us to their friends and family.

6. What can you offer Sevenoaks Chamber members?

Raj Bari offers Sevenoaks Chambers a great place to have a relaxed networking evening with set menu at a discounted rate.

7. If you were in charge of Sevenoaks for a day what would you change or improve?

Sevenoaks is a great town to live and or work in.  The people are very friendly and warm.  The council do a marvellous job of preserving its history and keep the streets clean and tidy.  If I was in charge the only thing I would probably change would be to provide a free pick up area for the families of the commuters at Sevenoaks station.
