  1. Tell us about your typical Monday morning?

I always start the day with a brief meeting of my management team to set the framework of our calendar for the week and review of the weekend as we truly are a 24/7 business.  Liaison with residents, families, staff and our head office are an important part of my day.

2. Can you explain about Sunrise Senior Living and what you do?

As General Manager of Sunrise in Sevenoaks my role is to oversee the care and nursing of our residents, who number 100 when we are full, its support operations and business performance.

3. Tell us something interesting about you or your organisation.

Sunrise originated in the United States and has been the forerunner of bringing a new generation of homes and person centred care to England over the last 18 years. We employ over 5000 people in the UK and support over 30 000 seniors every day.

4. What’s hot news in your industry?

Communities becoming Dementia Friendly to help seniors when they are out and about in their town or village.

5. Where are your residents typically from?

Our residents come from all over England, including locals who are close to friends and family and those from further afield who moved back to Sevenoaks to be close to family.

6. What advice or services can you offer Sevenoaks Chamber members?

We are always happy to meet with individuals if they have elderly relatives and need advice about planning care and what services are available to them in the local community.  By arrangement our venue is available to Chamber Businesses who need a quiet comfortable environment for off sight meetings or have a client to meet and need somewhere neutral to meet.   We also hold events here for the Sevenoaks and local area communities where companies can explain their services to residents and seniors invited in from the surrounding areas.

7. If you were in charge of Sevenoaks for a day what would you change or improve?

It would be helpful if there was focus on constant improvement for seniors who have problems with mobility and also businesses ensuring they are Dementia Friends trained.  I understand this is already a focus in Sevenoaks and this is something we would be happy to help with.
